KISA Phone

A made-to-order mobile for users with physical, cognitive, or visual impairments

Overview

The KISA Phone is an assistive mobile device designed for people who are unable—or prefer not—to use smartphones. Unlike traditional phones, the KISA is a fully customised, button-based device with no screen, text messaging, internet, or app access. It is especially suited for elderly Australians and New Zealanders, as well as those with dementia, low vision, hearing impairments, or other disabilities.

Made-to-order and available from AUD $598, the KISA phone is eligible under NDIS funding, and can be configured with up to 10 dedicated contact buttons, each labelled with a name, photo, or icon. It features an SOS emergency button, GPS tracking, fall detection, and an optional reminders service for medications or tasks.

User Feedback Summary

Feedback from users and caregivers is mixed. Many praise the ease of use, suitability for people with dementia or low vision, and friendly customer support. Others, however, have raised concerns about limited functionality, high cost, frequent accidental dialling, and unexpected increases in monthly charges. For the right user, though, the KISA phone may significantly improve independence and safety.

Best Suited For

Seniors with cognitive, visual, or physical challenges
NDIS participants or families seeking NDIS-approved phones
Carers needing full remote control over a loved one’s phone use
Users who need a talk-only, internet-free, distraction-free phone

Bottom Line

The KISA Phone is one of the most simplified phones available in Australia and New Zealand, purpose-built for individuals who need maximum clarity and minimal complexity. It’s not a traditional phone—but for the right person, it could be a life-enhancing tool. It excels in accessibility and safety but may not be cost-effective for all users, especially those who want greater flexibility.
