Like many parents today, I am trying to strike a balance: giving my child the freedom and connectivity she craves, while keeping her safe from the darker corners of the internet. From following debates around smartphone use in schools and social media bans in parliament, to reading reviews of “dumb phones” and distraction-free devices, I have been tracking the evolving landscape of phones for kids for years and also worked in I.T. and tech for several years myself.

At the same time, my tech-shy mother needed a simple, secure way to stay connected without falling victim to scams or confusion—so phones for seniors became just as much a focus for me.

Pingaroo is a hub born from that personal mission: to make it easier for others to explore the best available tech for the young and the elderly. It isn’t about fear—it’s about thoughtful adoption. While I certainly miss the days when kids simply played outside, times have changed, and with the right tools, my hope is that both children and older adults can enjoy the benefits of technology without the overwhelm.
